ACADEMIC SKILLS


She started studying classical piano at the age of 6 at the Conservatory of Music in Braga, Portugal, graduated with merit the 8th degree and final year. Simultaneously, started to study classical saxophone, and finished with the 3rd degree.
In 2005, finished the studies in Braga and was admitted to the School of Music and Arts ESMAE in Oporto where she had classes in saxophone with Fernando Ramos and Henk van Twillert.
In 2009, she graduated in Classical Saxophone under the direction of Henk van Twillert, with a highest grade, A+, in Saxophone Final Recital.

Along her journey as a musician, Ana Faria attended classical orchestra seminars and saxophone master classes with António Belijar, Claude Delangle, Mario Marzi, Arno Bornckamp, Jean – Yves Formeau, Stéphane Laporte, Richard Ducros, Roberto Benitez, Gerard McChrystal, Xelo Giner and others.
Archiving a scholarship, Ana Faria went to a prestigious music school located in Boston, Berklee College of Music, in 2011. She had an oportunity to work with some of the greatest musicians of our times, such as Greg Osby, Frank Tiberi, Shannon LeClaire, Dino Govoni, Harry Skoler and Ed Tomassi. She also went to New York where she studied in workshops with the famous pianist, Barry Harris.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE


During her passage in Conservatory of Music in Braga, Ana participated in several concerts and in Broadway performances such as Babes in Arms, 2003, and The Man’s Music, 2005.
Ana Faria has had concerts with different projects such as “Vento do Norte” at European Parliament in Belgium, International Saxophone Week in Amsterdam, Yamaha Pro Custom Sax Tour (2008).
In 2009, met Christian Lauba, pianist and composer, and played for him “Steady study on the boogie” in Semanas do Estoril, Lisbon.
In Italy won two prizes in competitions, 3rd place in 5º Concorso Internazionale di Musica, Marco Fiorindo, 2005 and 2nd place in 7º Concorso Internazionale di Musica, Cittá di Chieri, 2007.
Currently, she is studying Improvisation and Jazz Composition with Alex Honwana, jazz pianist. Also perform with Hownana Jazz Quartet at Iberic cities. Through jazz spirit, Ana worked as a member of Jazz Orchestra of Braga, having performed next to names as Mário Laginha, Carlos Azevedo e Pedro Guedes.
Ana Faria was also a saxophone and piano teacher at private and governmental schools over North of Portugal, teaching children yeared from 6 to 16.
More recently, since September 2010 until December 2010, Ana had the opportunity to participate in European Saxophone Ensemble, playing in several European countries, such as Greece, Cyprus, Bulgary, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.
